It's pronounced 'day zhar dan'. I'm the Social Media & Advocacy Manager at Tourism Australia. Fan of Slideshare, SXSW, Cannes Lions. Here's a mishmash of things I'm working on. Views are my own.

The Best Camera Is The One That’s With You

I absolutely love all our fans who upload Instagram photos in real time from all around Australia. To date we’ve had over 18k tagged #SeeAustralia. Over half of our featured Facebook posts come from Instagram. Like this one.

We did it, 2,000,000 Facebook Fans!

Lots of interest from the media today:

Here’s the New Year’s Eve video I worked on.

  • Made with stories from our Facebook fans
  • Finished at 9am the next morning (yes, it was a very long night)
  • 400k views in 7 days.
  • 85k+ new Facebook fans in 3 days.
  • Core target for this film was the US, UK and China.

Created an Instagram profile for Tourism Australia a few weeks ago, didn’t realise it was going to be such a big hit. 1,400 photos submitted already, so over the weekend we built this really nifty tab on our Facebook page. I can watch this thing all day.

I’ve always wanted to be the world’s seconds best at something. I created this presentation for the World’s Best Presentation Contest on Slideshare. 500k+ views later it’s still going strong.

I look after the largest Facebook fan page in Australia. This is one of my favourite photos that a fan posted to our wall, we get close to a thousand photos every week. I learn at least a dozen new things a day from managing this page. I love her very much, but she keeps me up at night. facebook.com/seeaustralia

Love this photo.

Love this photo.

Social Media sits in the Global PR division at Tourism Australia. This is a cool project we did recently. We created the world’s most remote polling station to drive awareness for www.n7w.com

I came back to Australia for a few weeks to do contract work and when I arrived Tourism Australia was looking for a new Social Media & Advocacy Manager. Problem was that I arrived 3 hours before the application deadline. I’ve never hustled so much to write something quick. I sent it my C.V. and with only minutes to spare and stayed up late putting this deck together. I put it on slideshare and overnight it got over 4k views and lots of lovely comments from people who I never met before but who had been following my work. The next morning I got an interview and the rest is history.
